As couples around the globe are now becoming more environmentally conscious, the trend in weddings has begun to include “eco-chic” weddings. It is a fun way to incorporate the couple’s values and have a memorable affair for their guests. Couples are now more concerned with the amount of carbon foot printing they leave behind. Recycling is now top of mind as well as attempts are made to limit the amount of waste associated with the big day. Many vendors are aware of this and have become more “green” as a result.

There are many options for incorporating Eco-friendly elements into your wedding. Here are a few of the top suggestions to make your wedding a little “greener.”

1-Go Green with the Ring.
-buy conflict-free diamonds from reputable companies
-choose vintage, recycled or repurposed diamonds or gemstones
-select alternate precious stones in lieu of traditional diamonds
-ring tattoos are another option for those looking for a permanent symbol

2-Location, Location, Location!!
-choose an outdoor venue such as a park, backyard, zoo, or arboretum
-use one location for the ceremony and reception to reduce the travel for guests
-hire hybrid limos to transport your wedding party
-select a reception location that is environmentally-conscious such as a hotel with a commitment to preserving the environment

3-Keep it Personal
-limit the amount of guests you include in your wedding
-reduce the amount of wedding stationary you will use as well as envelopes and insert tissues
-choose a location in close proximity to the majority of your guests to reduce the travel times
-design a website for your guests to receive information to limit the mailings you send out

4-Dress for Success

-choose a wedding gown made from organic silk or hemp
-wear a vintage dress
-honor your mother by wearing her wedding gown
-Rent a tuxedo instead of purchasing a new one
